Police vehicle set on fire on Johnson Road

A police pick-up vehicle was set on fire in front of the capital’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Johnson Road amid a non-cooperation programme called by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement. On Sunday, protestors were seen demonstrating in front of the court premises around 10:30 am, as per bdnews24.com reports. The protesters were chanting slogans calling for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and justice for those killed in the recent violence surrounding the quota reform protests. Pro-Awami League and pro-BNP lawyers were also seen holding duelling protests at the court premises. During that time, a police vehicle was vandalised and set on fire on the capital’s Johnson’s Road.
