The victim of a car theft was disgruntled to receive a text informing him his case would be closed – just a day after he reported the crime. Peter Dearsley, of South Woodford in east London, called police after his Ford S-Max – worth £14,500 – was stolen outside his house. The 37-year-old graphic designer was told to fill in an online survey, The Sun reports. Mr Dearsley blamed the government, adding: 'I was told the police didn't have the resources to investigate the case.' He had filled out the online form under a new Crime Assessment Policy that came into force last year.
