German police on Wednesday stopped a man driving a scooter naked but for his helmet and a pair of sandals in 30-degree heat during the week. “Hot, innit?’’ the man told the officers on being stopped in the north-eastern state of Brandenburg on Wednesday. After identifying himself and donning a pair of shorts, he was allowed to proceed without further action. The record was broken in the town of Coschen on the German-Polish border, where the temperature reached 38.6 degrees Celsius at 2:50 pm (1250 GMT). The previous record of 38.5 degrees for the month was reached on June 27-28, 1947, in the western town of Buehlertal.
