Police station reopens

All dried out with a fresh lick of paint, the South Dunedin Community Police station was reopened yesterday with a little pomp and circumstance. Deputy Police Commissioner Viv Rickard officially reopened the station, and acknowledged the importance of the community it serves. The community police station in Macandrew Rd was closed after flooding extensively damaged the ground floor in June last year. "The building houses not only community policing, but also groups like the Family Harm team, South Dunedin Neighbourhood Policing Team and the local Community Constable. She said the reopening of the station was "the silver lining" for a community which had suffered a lot, and it had resulted in a brighter and better police station for the community.
