Police set up new narcotics unit for airports

SEPANG: A new police unit dubbed the Narcotic Airport Division will be stationed at airports to combat drug mules and traffickers. Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd announced the formation of the new unit today (Feb 4) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. While we have a small number of officers stationed at airports, we have restructured them so that their duties are more focused. He added that last year, 101 Malaysian drug mules were apprehended, with 82 arrested overseas. The new unit will initially be stationed at seven main airports, including KLIA and the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
