Police set out five reasons for seeking actor Siddiqur Rahman’s remandPolice have requested a 10-day remand to interrogate actor Siddiqur Rahman in custody over the killing of a furniture store employee during last year’s July Uprising. According to the police filing, Siddiqur “skilfully provided financial support” that fuelled the incident, which aimed to suppress the student-led uprising. His father, Md Sabuj, later filed a murder case at Gulshan Police Station. A Dhaka court subsequently placed him on a seven-day police remand for questioning. He was sent to jail on May 7 after questioning, but on Aug 20, he was formally arrested in the Parvez murder case, prompting investigators to file the latest remand petition.
