The Central Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Reverend David Ampah Benin, who confirmed the incident, said the swoop was part of activities to make the region unattractive to criminals. He explained that other suspects, however, jumped into the sea and swam to safety. He said items retrieved from the suspects included 24 scissors, 10 knives, a hammer, crow bar, chisel, tape recorder, television, instruments used to administer narcotic drugs, 6 lighters and 27 CDs. DCOP Ampah Benin said the police also found a taxi cab with registration number, GT 5383-12, suspected to have been used by the suspects to steal goats.
