Police reassure community attempted abduction talk unfoundedMessages circulating about attempted abduction of young children in the Waikato unfounded, police say. Police say they received inquiries from a number of schools relating to tales of a suspicious blue van seen recently driving past local schools and the occupant attempting to abduct young children. Police say the information is circulating via email between parents and school staff in the Hamilton area and is causing concern. Police wanted to reassure the community that no such behaviour has been formally reported to Police, and there are no active investigations relating to this type of recent behaviour. However should anyone notice a van fitting this description and anyone behaving in a suspicious manner they are urged to call 111.
