Mumbai police spokesperson and deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Pranaya Ashok said, “Arnab Goswami reached NM Joshi police station at around 2:15pm on Wednesday while responding to the summons issued by Pydhonie police station authorities a day before.” He left the police station at 6.45pm. Suresh Gaikwad, the investigating officer and an inspector with Pydhonie police station, along with his team arrived before Goswami reached NM Joshi Marg police station. Goswami was summoned to Pydhonie police station on the basis of a complaint by Irfan Abubakar Shaikh, secretary, Raza Education Welfare Society. But Goswami deliberately highlighted the mosque on his show on April 29 to create communal disturbances in Mumbai,” Shaikh alleged. “The raging debate on Republic TV was aimed at blaming the Muslim community for spreading Covid-19 in Mumbai.
