Police probing firecracker incident, alleged attack at Sea Games semi-final match


SHAH ALAM: Police are investigating incident where a firecracker was allegedly thrown during the football match between Malaysia and Indonesia at Stadium Shah Alam last night. Shah Alam district police chief Assistanf Commissioner Shafien Mamat said police are also probing an alleged assault by a group of men against an Indonesian fan after the match. During the Sea Games 2017 semi-finals football match between Malaysia and Indonesia, a firecracker was allegedly hurled from the Malaysian supporters’ stand. Shafien said the victim, aged 30, was part of a group waiting for a bus to ferry them home when a group of Malaysian supporters allegedly caused a scuffle. He was sent to the Shah Alam Hospital where he received outpatient treatment.
