Police personnel say ‘no’ to toilets near Shastri Nagar station

A move to build toilets has vitiated the climate of friendship between two sets of uniformed government employees in Besant Nagar. A compound wall and a narrow bitumen-topped lane separate the Besant Nagar bus terminus from the office of the Shastri Nagar police. When MTC authorities at the terminus got a part of this compound wall broken down to install mobile toilets there, unease settled in. One, terminus authorities felt access to the toilets would be easy for both commuters and MTC staff. The police should help the MTC staff keep such people away from the terminus,” says K. Suresh, a commuter from Besant Nagar.
