Police are looking for a group of runaways who evaded a police pursuit and scurried away from a ditched car in Lower Hutt on Sunday. A police spokeswoman said the pursuit occurred after the driver of a vehicle failed to stop for police in Taita Dr just after 2.30pm. Cordons were put in place and the vehicle was found abandoned near the intersection of Poole St and Hooper Grove, the spokeswoman said. It was unclear why police had requested the driver to stop, but it could have been in relation to an earlier crash, she said.
