Police officers 'struggling' to live in Auckland

Police officers 'struggling' to live in AucklandROSS GIBLIN/STUFF Police Minister Stuart Nash says Auckland is set to receive hundreds more police officers. "Last month the Commissioner of Police confirmed that the three Auckland policing districts will receive 346 extra frontline officers, over and above existing staffing levels of 2604 officers," Nash said. "The extra officers are on-top of those who are replaced as part of normal attrition." Police were making good progress on efforts to recruit and deploy the extra 1800 frontline officers and 485 support staff, Nash said. Almost 700 extra officers had gone through the Royal NZ Police College and been deployed around the country since the government took office.
