The officer was hit by a car after asking the driver to stop on Stanford Road in Grays, Essex, at around 8am on Saturday. The driver drove off after hitting the officer, who was airlifted to hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries. "The officer was taken to hospital by air ambulance with injuries that are considered to be serious, but thankfully not life changing or life-threatening. "A 22-year-old man from Grays has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
