Police investigating cyclist's sudden death near HaastGOOGLE MAPS The cyclist died near Haast on Tuesday afternoon. A cyclist has died on the Haast Pass Highway, just after noon on Tuesday. A police media spokeswoman said emergency services were called to a sudden death involving a cyclist about 12.05pm. The fatal medical event happened near the Gates of Haast, on State Highway 6 between Haast and Makarora, near Wanaka. St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance from Haast was sent to treat a 45-year-old man on Haast Pass-Makarora Rd.
