Hamilton police are investigating a shooting that detectives say took place early Sunday morning in the lower city. Officers were called about reports of gunshots fired in the area of West Avenue North between Cannon Street and Barton Street around 1:30 a.m. According to a police news release, detectives found several spent bullet casings in the street — but no suspects. "The motive for the shooting is currently being investigated by divisional detectives."
