Police are investigating the cause of a fire that gutted part of a Timaru building in the early hours of Friday morning. The fire, which is being treated as suspicious, put firefighters in danger, a senior station officer says. JOHN BISSET/STUFF Timaru senior station officer Garry Parker said on arrival the fire was "well involved" in a wing on the ground floor of the three-story building. Crews battled for about two hours to extinguish the fire and "cut it off from spreading through the building", Parker said.
