According to dispatch traffic, the assailant came up from behind the woman and pushed her to the ground, covering her eyes and face. Police are investigating the attempted sexual assault of a 20-year-old UC Berkeley student who was walking alone Monday night near campus, authorities report. The incident happened in the 2600 block of Parker Street, near Benvenue Avenue, in the Southside neighborhood near Cal, Berkeley police said in response to a Scanner inquiry. The student struggled and got away, but the assailant managed to grab her again before she escaped for good.
