A pregnant 28-year-old woman from Browns Farm says she was shot by police on Sunday. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating Nyanga police after a pregnant 28-year-old woman, Vathiswa Mzam, was shot in her yard, allegedly by an officer. Western Cape police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk said an attempted murder case had been registered for investigation. Mzam from Siyahlala informal settlements in Browns Farm, Cape Town, said she was washing the dishes at around 21:00 when she heard a commotion outside.
