Police impersonator arrested, charged in Bomet


Police officers in Chepalungu, Bomet county have arrested a man who has been masquerading as a police officer at Siongiroi market. He was arraigned in a Bomet court on Thursday where he was charged with two counts of impersonating a police officer and being in possession of a police uniform. The accused who appeared before Bomet law court magistrate Pamela Achieng was charged with falsely presenting himself as a police officer and assumed to arrest Enock Kipkirui Bett at Siongiroi market. "As for now investigations are ongoing, we can't divulge more," Chepalungu OCPD Caleb MatokeDetectives from the Bomet DCI offices are now handling the matter. Acting county DCI officer Jacob Mudi said the man had earlier been charged with obtaining money by false pretences by conning residents that he would secure employment for them in the county.
