Niphat said the school allowed the strays to live on the grounds, where lecturers and students fed them. Students and lecturers boarding in the area told him that during the summer break they’d come across three to five dogs a day, dead from apparent poisoning. Niphat said five dogs survived and were now in the personal care of lecturers and students lest they too be targeted. District police chief Pol Col Prawit Chanthabat led a search of the university grounds by officers and officials of the Pathiew livestock office.
