Police haul in businessman for allegedly abetting father's suicide

BENTONG: A businessman was arrested two days ago for allegedly abetting the suicide of his father at a hotel in Genting Highlands last week. Pahang Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said that the suspect has been remanded until Nov 16 to facilitate investigation under Section 306 of the Penal Code for abetting suicide. He said that initial police investigation found a length of rope at the scene believed to have been tied around the deceased's neck. "However as it appeared suspicious, investigation was continued and checks on the (hotel room) registry revealed that there was a second person staying in the room (where the deceased was found). "Further investigation saw us locating and arresting the suspect at Genting Highlands on Nov 12," Othman said in a media statement on Tuesday.
