Police forces on Saturday morning engaged with a terrorist group who tried to attack a security checkpoint on the coastal road of al-Arish, North Sinai, successfully killing four of them. An informed source said that the police had succeeded in thwarting the attack of the terrorists against the checkpoint and had responded strongly to them, despite the use of heavy weapons and the firing of RPGs. He added that the security forces found 10 explosive devices next to the checkpoint, 4 automatic weapons, 30 ammunition magazines, RPG, 3 explosive belts, camera, and grenades. Egyptian Armed Forces have launched the “Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018” campaign in February to counter the increasing terrorist threat from North Sinai. In retaliation, North Sinai-based state security carried out large-scale security sweeps and military operations.
