Inspector Monirul Islam of Shahjadpur Police Station, who is investigating the case, submitted the charge sheet to a court on Tuesday. Mayor Miru admitted to firing his gun but said it was in retaliation to shots fired by his rivals. But police then said only Miru's gun was fired during the clashes. Police have so far arrested 14 including Mayor Miru and his brother Mintu. Miru has been suspended as the organising secretary of the Awami League’s Sirajganj district unit.
