The Standard witnessed poor turnouts at Kiboro Primary School and Mathare Special Training Centre. Rains disturbed the voting as few eager voters braced the cold and mud to vote. According to the Mathare Constituency Returning Officer Japheth Mwololo, turnout was very low and by 10.am, it was 20 in the Opposition stronghold. At around 10am police engaged youths, who had barricaded the road with stones and burning wooden structures, in running battles.
