Seven Trinamool Congress MPs were detained by the Delhi Police, after they held a protest outside Home Minister Amit Shah’s office in the capital on Friday (January 9, 2026). The Trinamool MPs raised slogans against the Home Minister alleging that the BJP-ruled Central government was using the ED to “steal” the Trinamool electoral plans ahead of the Assembly election. Mr. Gokhale called Mr. Shah a “coward” for using ED “raids” ahead of the polls. Mr. O’ Brien asked Mr. Shah to face the Trinamool MPs. Speaking to The Hindu, DCP (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla said seven MPs held an “unauthorised” protest outside the Home Minister’s office and were hence removed from the spot.
