The victim, 14-year-old Rafiza Akhtar Shathi, hailed from the Upazila’s Zianagar village and was a ninth grade student at the local high school. “We heard allegations that one 19-year-old Yamin, from the neighbouring Heruganj village, had been harassing her. When a police team went to make an arrest the locals attacked them.”Sub inspectors, Nasiruzzaman, Rahim Uddin and Zakir Hossain, were injured in the attack, said the police officer. A few hours later, a larger police team went to the village and arrested 26, he said. Police are still looking for Yamin, OC Razzak said.
