Police cripple Macau Scam syndicate in Ayer Keroh - Nation


MELAKA: Police have crippled a Macau Scam syndicate following the arrest of 29 people here. State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said police conducted a raid at a makeshift call-center at Ayer Keroh on Sept 14 at about 12.30pm before arresting the syndicate members-all Chinese Nationals. The syndicate members, he said will contact victims using voice over internet protocol service by amending the caller's number and deceiving victims with accurate information. DCP Abdul Jalil said the syndicate made use of local residents' accounts to transfer the payment made by the victims. He said all the syndicate members were detained to assist investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
