Police crackdown in Sydney results in HUNDREDS of cyclists and pedestrians being hit with fines

A major police crackdown has led to hundreds of cyclists and pedestrians being hit with fines for breaking basic road rules. Officers conducted Operation Pedro on September 23 in Sydney, which saw 50 cyclists receive penalty notices for disobeying traffic lights. An extra 49 cyclists were fined for not wearing helmets, and 20 were busted riding on the footpath. The figures were recently released by the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command. Traffic & Highway Patrol Commander Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said police were cracking down on road safety.
