A 21-year-old man is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car around Winnipeg on Tuesday night. The driver raced through several red lights on his way to the North Perimeter Highway, at times hitting speeds as high as 120 km/h. A few minutes later, officers spotted it again in the area of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue. The suspect then continued north toward Lockport, where he turned around and headed back to Winnipeg. Finally, after the tires had torn away, the car was stopped by police in the area of Talbot Avenue and Watt Street, the Elmwood neighbourhood, around midnight.
