A passenger travelling in the other car has been charged with causing the accident. The front seat passenger of a car that suddenly veered across the road resulting in a horrific crash near Oakura has been charged by police with endangering transport. The collision, between two cars heading in opposite directions, happened on State Highway 45, near the Kaitake Golf Club, on June 13. Side impact airbags on Watson's car allowed him to walk away from the crash relatively unscathed.
