The bullet struck him as he walked to work in the midst of the weeklong demonstrations against the poor state of the Mwiki-Kasarani road in Nairobi. His sister, Lilian Waringa, said the family learnt that her brother was missing when her husband called to ask about his whereabouts. Staff at the clinic said the bullet had lodged in his chest. He sustained a bullet wound on his right hand.
