Police ask to destroy guns collected from crimes, suicidesLACONIA, N.H. (AP) — Police in a New Hampshire city have asked a judge to allow them to destroy about two dozen guns, some of which were used in crimes, some in suicides, and others abandoned. He said police are concerned they could later be used in a crime. Canfield said the department's evidence storage locker tends get filled up with the weapons. Eleven states have passed laws encouraging or requiring police to resell confiscated guns; New Hampshire isn't one of them. He said in criminal cases, defendants should be notified of the motion to destroy the weapons and be given an opportunity to respond.
