The first court hearing in the case filed against nine policemen among 13 accused of gouging a man’s eyes out in Khulna led to the investigators requesting an extension. Shahjalal was accused of robbing a woman and claimed to have been subjected to mob lynching, which the police claimed, led to his eyes being gouged out. On Wednesday, the PIB investigators requested they be granted more time to investigate. Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahidul Islam said the next court hearing will be held on December 26. Earlier on Monday, Shahjalal was granted permanent bail in a case where he was accused of attempted hijacking.
