Police arrive as alleged child porn file-sharing underway at Saskatoon home

Child pornography charges have been laid against a Saskatoon man who police say was uploading and downloading explicit images on a file-sharing network when officers arrived at his door. Gerhard H. Maynard appeared in court today and will make a second appearance next week on three charges that entail accessing and possessing child pornography and making it available to others. Lambie says they started investigating the suspect in February before pinpointing an address where the alleged offences were occurring. The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit says the 58-year-old man was arrested yesterday as a search was being carried out at a home on the city’s east side. Scott Lambie, the unit’s provincial co-ordinator, says police showed up when videos were allegedly being accessed and shared on a peer-to-peer network.
