The police in Yobe have arrested two soldiers over the murder of an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Goni Gashua. Mr Gashua was killed on Friday night near Jaji Maji in Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State. He said, “the two soldiers have confessed to the crime but investigation is still ongoing.”The police spokesperson refused to confirm the names of the soldiers. A source in Yobe, who is a member of the vigilante in the state, however, narrated how the popular Islamic cleric was killed. He said that one of the soldiers requested for a lift from the cleric who was returning to Yobe from Kano via Nguru.
