Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old man after alleged racist abuse was directed towards players during Manchester United ’s 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad. United midfielder Fred appeared to be targeted as he took a corner during the second half of the Premier League clash on Saturday. GMP released a statement on Sunday morning confirming a match-goer remained in custody for questioning having been detained the day before. It said: "A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order and remains in custody for questioning." Accusations of racist abuse were made by United players, with the Red Devils confirming later that more than one player had been targeted by the alleged slurs.
