A patrol car was stolen after a man pointed a gun at police carrying out a breath test. Police said officers in Ōhakune were ambushed at about 10.20pm on Saturday. The officers were allegedly held at gunpoint and another offender, along with another female passenger, got into the patrol car and drove away. Police then got in the vehicle they had stopped and found the stolen police car.
