Police advise against travelling as part of Newfoundland face stormy weather

A bout of winter weather across parts of Newfoundland on Tuesday kept schools closed on the Avalon Peninsula, and police are advising against travelling. Jesse O'Donaghey told CBC News that travel is not recommended in several areas across Newfoundland, including Route 480 on the west coast and through Terra Nova National Park. Some schools — including those along the southern Avalon — closed for the day as of 6:30 a.m. NT. The courts in St. John’s, which includes the provincial court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Sheriff’s Office and family justice services, closed at 12:30 p.m. Download our free CBC News app to sign up for push alerts for CBC Newfoundland and Labrador.
