At night on June 23, the pickup van was parked by showroom in Panthapath after the goods were loaded for delivery to a dealer in Kishorganj. The driver had loaded the van along with a helper after showroom staff had handed over the goods and left. The robbers pulled up by the pickup van in one of their own and held up the driver and helper with machetes just as they were about to leave. The robbers then took both vans around Dhaka, dropping off the refrigerators at various points from midnight until dawn.
