Police: Suspects in Denver STEM shooting were high on coke, carried guns in guitar case

In this file photo taken on May 07, 2019, students are evacuated from the Recreation Center at Northridge in Highlands Ranch after a shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch. Erickson told investigators that he had a panic attack in the moments before the shooting began, and never warned school administrators as he intended. Eight other students were injured in the May 7 attack at the Highlands Ranch charter school about 13 miles south of Denver. Investigators said Erickson and McKinney put the guns into a guitar case and walked into the middle school entrance because they knew they wouldn't be searched. McKinney told investigators he then grabbed a third handgun and was going to commit suicide but couldn’t work the safety and was then disarmed by a security guard.
