Police have refused to reveal how much they spent protecting Meghan Markle during her trip to New York for a star-studded baby shower. The Met Police have now refused to say what measures were put in place for the February trip or how much they cost the public purse. Following criticism of the 'lack of discretion' shown by the Duchess in embarking on the trip, the police response over the cost has angered transparency campaigners. But campaigners say the cost born by police forces for security and local councils during events mean they cost taxpayers much more.
