Police, National Intelligence Service get more cash


[Mose Sammy, Standard]President Uhuru Kenyatta has in his last year in office set aside more money for security operations. The National Police Service and Prisons has in this year’s Budget received Sh122.2 billion that will help in matters related to internal security. The Interior Ministry, headed by Dr Fred Matiang’i, will receive Sh203 billion up from the Sh134 billion allocated to the ministry in the last financial year. Of this amount, Sh143 billion will be available to the National Police service for their operations as the country prepares for the August elections. And in making sure that the country continues getting top notch security intelligence, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani has now allocated Spymaster Philip Kameru and his team at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) Sh46.1 billion.
