CROZET, Va. — Virginia State Police say the lone person aboard a small plane was killed when the aircraft crashed. State Police said Monday in a press release that they’re still trying to identify the body pulled from the wreckage. Severe weather and tornado warnings had moved throughout the region near the plane crash. Ralph Northam said on Twitter that he’s declared a state of emergency to help local and state agencies respond. The National Weather Service is sending a team to Albemarle County to determine if a tornado caused the high winds.
