Poker professional Gordon Vayo has filed a lawsuit against PokerStars for not paying him roughly $700,000 after winning the 2017 SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker Tournament Series) tournament. Vayo questions PokerStars' position that payment is not owed based on Vayo playing from within the U.S., in violation of the law. Interestingly, PokerStars continues to tout Vayo's SCOOP vistory on its blog and website despite not remitting payment. Vayo was the runner-up at the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event and has received over $6 million in total live earnings throughout his poker career. PokerStars had not responded to a request for comment on the lawsuit by the time of publication.
