If Niantic was looking to replicate the excitement that came with last summer's initial launch of Pokémon GO, then this is one way of doing it. Servers are struggling to handle massive influx of players out hunting for Gen 2 Pokémon. I've been able to log in intermittently, so this doesn't seem like the times of absolute shutdown we saw right after launch.
