PoS operators accuse Lagos LCDA of imposing illegal levy

Oluwatosin OmojuyigbeSome Point of Sale operators and mobile banking agents have accused the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area in Lagos State of imposing an illegal levy on them. PUNCH Metro learnt that the LCDA had on July 8, 2020, passed a circular imposing a weekly levy of N600 on the operators. The circular read in part, “All PoS/lotto shop/kiosks around Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA are mandated to pay a sum of N600 only. One of the operators, Taiwo Olatunbosun, who noted that the levy was not approved, stated that it was an idea brought up to exploit the operators. The imposition of N600 weekly levy on the PoS operators in the Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA when the majority of them are on loan and struggling to survive in this COVID-19 pandemic will be counterproductive.
