SUNGAI PETANI: A security guard at a UOB Bank branch in Taman Ria Jaya here foiled an attempt by a lone man to rob the bank this morning. It is learnt that the man had barged into the bank moments after one of the bank staff arrived for work at about 8.30am. The guard, who sustained gunshot wounds on his leg, was rushed to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital via an ambulance. It is believed that the robber is still being detained inside the bank while policemen conduct their investigations. None of the bank staff were harmed in the incident.
