I’ve taught my children so much over the Christmas holidays by thrashing them at Cluedo and Monopoly. But our game of choice is Articulate – a describing game against the timer where your team mates have to guess the word. Board games also let me see what my kids are made of. There is even something called over-investment syndrome, where people fear board games because when they lose, they feel humiliated and when they win, they feel guilty. I wanted to get board games out when I had friends over for Christmas but they looked at me as though I’d suggested they play with sharp knives.
