Nigerian champions Plateau United have been drawn to meet another North African side USM Alger, this time, in the play-off round of the Caf Confederation Cup. The Jos side dropped to the continent’s second tier club competition after losing over two legs to Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel in the Caf Champions League. Another Nigerian side MFM FC, who also failed to progress to the group stages of the Caf elite club competition, will confront Malian side Djoliba. But Federation Cup holders Akwa United will face a tricky side in El Hilal, Sudanese powerhouse, while two-time African champions Enyimba got Bidvest of South Africa. The four Nigerian sides thus avoided being pitched against each other at the draw held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.
